New NorseBoat 12.5 Launched In Annapolis!

NorseBoat 12.5The new NorseBoat 12.5 was launched at the October 2008 US Sailboat Show in Annapolis, Maryland. This innovative craft has most of the features of her larger sistership, including a blend of high performance and classic lines, dual rowing stations, and camping set-up. She is seaworthy, can accommodate a crew of four, and is also suitable for smaller bodies of water, single-handed or young skippers, or as a tender to a larger yacht.

Wooden NorseBoats

Wooden Hull #W3One of the things that separates NorseBoat from the competition is our ability to offer our production fiberglass boats in high quality modern wood construction. During the past summer two new wooden NorseBoat 17.5s were delivered, one on the coast of Maine (black hull) and other on the west coast just off of Vancouver Island, BC. The west coast boat was displayed at the 2008 Wooden Boat Festival in Port Townsend, Washington thanks to new NorseBoat owner-agent Mark Nighswander. The highlight of the festival was sailing the NorseBoat in company with hundreds of other wooden boats during two days of beautiful weather.

Summer Camp Kids Love NorseBoats!

In July 2008 two NorseBoat 17.5s were shipped to the CYO summer camp near Seattle, Washington. The camp wanted boats capable of taking five kids and an instructor on multi-day expeditions. The 6-person capacity and the sailing, rowing and camping ability of the NorseBoat 17.5 was a perfect fit. The quality and classic lines of the boats turned out to be a bonus...the boats were so inspiring that the camp had no trouble fundraising to pay for them. Best wishes to the CYO summer camp for next sesason!

NorseBoat 17.5 Scale Models

Over the years people have often commented, "NorseBoats are such works of art...if only they could somehow be displayed inside a home." Now it's easy! We are offering beautifully crafted scale models of the NorseBoat 17.5 from master craftsman Yeison Solis of Columbia. These scale models have incredible detail and workmanship.  Current NorseBoat 17.5 owners can order scale models with their hull number on the mainsail.  For those contemplating the purchase of a NorseBoat, this is a very affordable first step!  NorseBoat 17.5 scale models make great gifts for home or office.  For Christmas orders or more information contact info@norseboat.com.

St. Petersburg Boat Show

St. Pete Boat Show & NorseBoat Rendezvous

NorseBoats will be on display at the newly merged St. Petersburg Boat Show and Strictly Sail Show Dec 4-7, 2008. According to show promoters, "this new super show makes it the Gulf Coast's largest boat show and a powerhouse in the Southeast." We are encouraging NorseBoat owners to bring their boats to St. Petersburg during the show for an informal NorseBoat Rendezvous. Those interested in attending should contact info@norseboat.com.

NorseBoat will be displayed at these other 2009 events:
Seattle Boat Show, Seattle, WA, Jan 24-Feb 2, 2009
Strictly Sail Chicago, Chicago, IL, Jan 29-Feb 1, 2009
Maine Boatbuilders Show, Portland, ME, Mar 20-22, 2009

NorseBoat Sailors Are Happy Sailors!

NorseBoat SailorsWhether single-handing or with a crew of six onboard, NorseBoats are just plain fun to sail and row as evidenced by these recent photos. Experienced skippers will enjoy the NorseBoat's responsiveness, seaworthiness, and high peformance. For inexperienced skippers lessons on the fine art of dinghy sailing are recommended, but with a well balanced helm, handy mainsheet and boomless cat rig the NorseBoat is a great craft to learn on.

NorseBoat Options

The Yamaha 2.5hp four-stroke outboard is a good choice for NorseBoat Sailing & Rowing Cruisers. This compact yet powerful motor will drive the NorseBoat 17.5 at 5 knots in calm sea conditions.

NorseBoat Sailing Tips

Sailing wing-on-wing
NorseBoats have relatively small headsails, but they can still be set wing-on-wing in the right downwind conditions. A telescoping boathook can serve as a low-cost whisker pole. NorseBoats are now supplied without a boom since the full battens keep the mainsail setting nicely without the hazard of a boom overhead.

A Busy Summer In Lunenburg

New NorseBoat 12.5

Here's a photo of one of the quiet moments at the NorseBoat showroom in historic Lunenburg, Nova Scotia during the 2008 summer season. The NorseBoats on display in the showroom attracted small boat enthusiasts from around the world. It was like having an ongoing boat show. We encourage customers to come visit us in Lunenburg, see our boats first hand, and take in the historic and natural sites of the area.
