New Glass/Wood Hybrid NorseBoat 17.5 Now Available
For those who want the best of both worlds in boat construction - a strong no-maintenance glass hull combined with the warmth and feel of a wood interior - we now offer a hybrid glass/wood version of the NorseBoat 17.5. This model has the same glass hull as the production boat and the same interior and deck as the all wood version of the NorseBoat. It is available prebuilt by NorseBoat Limited or through factory authorised NorseBoat agents. The prebuilt cost of $15,775 is roughly the same as the glass production boat when fitted out with the wood floorboards option. The glass/wood hybrid NorseBoat is also available as an easy-to-build kit for amateur construction for $12, 245 including complete sail kit.

Announcing the New NorseBoat 12.5 Sailing & Rowing Cruiser
Over the past few years we’ve been flooded with requests for a smaller sistership to the NorseBoat 17.5, one that could serve as a yacht tender, a sassy high performance daysailer, a mini camp cruiser and, in an ideal world, be able to be transported on the roof of a vehicle. We listened, conceptualised, and recently entered into the design for a 12.5 ft. NorseBoat with naval architect Laurie McGowan of Nova Scotia. The emerging design is based on McGowan’s innovative Fundy Sharpie series blended with distinctively NorseBoat concepts. Anyone interested in getting on the waiting list for this sweet, smaller version of the NorseBoat 17.5 please contact us at info@norseboat.com.

Redesign of 17.5 Interior Liner
During the winter of 2007 NorseBoat Limited redesigned the interior liner of the NorseBoat 17.5. Improvements include drain channels in the seats, four watertight storage boxes flush-mounted on the seat tops, a watertight aft hatch, redesigned forward hatch area, integral liner floor and centerboard trunk cover (no joint in base of center board trunk), and a combination buoyancy/water ballast chamber between the liner floor and the hull. In addition to the other benefits, the new liner also reduces the volume of water in the cockpit in the event of capsize.

New Options for the NorseBoat 17.5
We have added several new options for the NorseBoat line:

Cabrio Camping Tent
This new tent option is perfect for those who don’t have a bimini. It incorporates an aluminum bow for support and zips onto the dodger and snaps around the cockpit coaming similar to the standard tent.
Black Hull Color
This option is for those who want a dark colored hull. The traditional look of the black hull goes well with the NorseBoat color scheme (red whale stripe, cream non-skid on deck, cream sails).
Plastimo Lighted Compass
Removable high quality compass mounted under the port side of the forward thwart stays protected while giving good visibility; also serves as a hand-bearing compass.
Electrical Package
We now have a standard electrical package that includes a tough deck-mounted solar panel with charge control, gel battery, LED running lights, 3-circuit waterproof electrical panel, and 12VDC outlet.
Electric Motor
We now supply the new Torqueedo 801L Electric Outboard from Germany for auxiliary power on NorseBoats. This innovative motor is a good option for those who motor occasionally for moderate distances.

New Options - Black Hull, Cabrio Camping Tent & Electric Motor

Shortening Sail in a NorseBoat 17.5
The NorseBoat 17.5 fully battened mainsail has two deep reefs to accommodate easily reducing sail when the wind pipes up. There are reef lines on the luff and leech, and reef points just under the second and third battens. This photo show the 17.5 on a starboard tack in 18-20 knots of wind.

NorseBoat Shipping
NorseBoats are often delivered in pairs, with one boat resting on a frame above a boat on a trailer. Trailers are drop-shipped to customers receiving the top boat. We try to group deliveries where possible to keep shipping costs to a minimum. Overseas shipping is done either two in a 20 ft. container or four in a 40 ft. container.

We hope you find this newsletter interesting and informative. Please tell us if you know other boaters who would be interested in receiving it. If you would like us to remove your name from our newsletter email list, please send this request to info@norseboat.com.
